Great way to start a year is at origin! Puts it all in perspective. Seems like we were on the ground early this year and were able to select some top scoring Lots.  Niche producers are delivering a custom approach to an ever obsessing specialty market. Producers allowing roasters to select there coffees & futhermore select the process is emerging.  As well as recognising the importance of exclusivity and relationships to prevent the finca la fany fad.. where every roaster has the same coffee`s on their list. It was great to touch base with producers we made contact with last season and see them investing in their farms to further improve quality. These are the people we enjoy working with. Thank you to all our hosts on this trip your hospitality and coffee was truly appreciated.

Lots happening here these past few weeks, getting back into the swing! Micro-Lot Costa Rica`s from our trip there earlier this year will be in store in the next few weeks, some really lovely coffees we discovered. Our Auction Lot Kenyas will be arriving too ! Right now we have the Nekisse & Esmeralda Mario Enero through the Clover and rotating the Nekisse, Bolivia CoE #11 & Lucky 7 as espresso. Its really a pleasure to come to work with this round up ! I am sure you will enjoy. During the week we held a CoE tasting for AASCA had space for about 15 & 25 showed up ! all went well had a great night thanks for your participation.

Lots to talk about,some nice press in the Good Living about micro lots & alternatives to espresso thanks (Helen Greenwood) a successful night of bidding for the El Sal Cup of Excellence auction we secured our favorite Lot 9 Thanks MD from Paris. We Made it to London for the WBC & the World WAC`S . Great to see Australia in the finals Mikey from seven seeds & scottie who came 3rd great work also good to see young Johnny on the world stage at the cup tasters, one to look out for in the future for sure. We  witnessed the live Human Kopi Luwak project not sure the price on this coffee yet .. priceless no doubt just like the outfit. London was hard to beat though Oslo & Copenhagen were seriously tough contenders Thanks for your warm welcomes Tim & Tim from the Wendelsphere & Klaus & Linus from the Coffee Collective.The coffees were inspiring. Never had so much coffee on a bike. Back home to the team who`s been holding the fort for the last 4 weeks

Lots going on this week training wise! Coffee chemistry are in town doing a 2 day course in a penthouse (i hear), brownetowne & the dogg will be off there & CoE are in Melbourne hosted by Seven Seeds ill be doing there training seminar for 2 days.

We are strong advocates for the CoE program and the coffee`s that we have access to as a result. We will be hosting an event for the CoE`s representatives Susie Spindler & Erwin Mierisch on Monday. Allpress hosted an event for the new Marzocco espressso machine dubbed the “Strada” inspired by the street team helping to create this monster due late 2010. Its great to see Marzocco putting a machine out there with variable pressure, pressure profiling via USB, variable steam pressure & exposed group heads. Giddy up! We will be puling some shots on it during the week with some of our own coffee (cant wait !)We had some visitors from Sevenseeds in Melbourne & Tim from Inteli Venice if you havent been there yet ..what are you waiting for ! Pulling some great coffee`s through the Clover this week the Bolivia San Juan & a Colombia Agua Azul getting some great results with newly tweaked Renegade roaster & a slightly lighter profile ..! see you down there

Coming at you highly caffeined up from a wet Ethiopia ! Cupped some mind blowing Coffees today from Rogicha/Gericho & Sakicha in Sidamo region ! Lets buy them all !! A really humbling experience being here in the birth place of coffee ..even if they have it wrong, it certainly has the energy of the birthplace. Experienced coffee via 4 brewing methods // cupping, pour-over, traditional Ethiopian coffee (ground fine & boiled over hot coals) & espresso.

We have secured some exciting coffee`s so look out for some small lots through the Clover as well as some interesting changes to the Lucky 7.. Thank you !

Pauli G & I found these bad boys at Sydney airport Monday.. They got red flagged by customs,but we got them & the colombian In the end! We will be putting her through her paces upstairs before we showcase her In the bar making sure she is fully dialed in. . we are looking forward to the results !! Keep you posted .

We all knew Shafter had it in him! Great wide Mouth Retention according to Lee Roy, we got this rosetta out at training last night ..spot the chocolate on the teeth !

Tonight at training..things got a little loose. We started pouring coffee`s into ramekins, Then peoples mouth`s ! Jimmy 2 cans copped some hot espresso to the mouth, due to lack of retention we will have a second attempt at the mouthed rosetta on Thursday Night!

The cupping was a success ..if you are counting empty Asahi bottles ! Stephen was on fine form rattling off information for an attentive crowd. For those interested a re-cap of the coffee`s we cupped. Thanks to All

Some of us had to work Australia Day, so to get us in the mood Lee Roy grabbed us all a couple of wifebeaters and a 6ie of VB the rest is History !! (Drew`s a Kiwi so we got him a black one)

Sebastian has done it again//this year dirtier than ever !! Financial crisis & all I think he is 100 bucks up on last year (500 +) & still going strong. I have also been told the man in question will be competing in next years NSW comp ( without the MO ), we have just landed 2 ton of some really interesting green. So we will be hard at work preparing something pretty rock n roll for the comp ..watch this space

Well its finally here//our website/blogsite.

The motivation for setting this up is to keep everyone up to speed with the  exciting coffee we  have to offer & to let everyone know whats going down at the Source.

This first post is coming at you from Tokyo//just wrapping up the SCAJ (sk-ad-g). Had some great coffee`s at the Mercanta stand & the COE stand (very tempted to Join the program).. Had a catch up with George Howell ..pretty interesting coffee dude//He has an interesting TDC reader on the market, just soon to be relaesed//he is e-mailing me some info, ill keep you posted. Had a great time with the mercanta crew from Sydney (love your work Mr Studd) & of course our good frienDs from BBB & J diddy & Toshi !! We are going to be hooking up a bit of a work exchange program with the kids at BBB//Looking forward to that !!//Thnaks to the boys back in Mosman for looking after the roasting & the shop, a record day while I was away I hear ( stay away Russ) arrigato off to catch my plane//stilnox me up
